Batman: The Audio Adventures.

Spoiler Free Review

The cape crusader is back at it with a different style but one that I think everyone would enjoy. This 10 episode podcast style season that is rated TV-14 is tremendous and I had a ton of fun listening to the episodes while doing things around the house, lawn work and driving around town! The first two episodes are on Apple Podcasts but the full season is on HBO Max. Let's review!

Before I get into my thoughts on this 10 episode season, I must give you the cast and who they voice because it's a great cast and each actor/actress does a great job! They are:

  • Chris Parnell as Narrator

  • Jeffery Wright as Batman

  • Melissa Villasenor as Robin

  • Kenan Thompson as Commissioner Gordon

  • Rosario Dawson as Catwoman

  • John Leguizamo as The Riddler

  • Ike Barinholtz as Harvey Dent/Two-Face

  • Brent Spiner as Joker

  • Bobby Moynihan as Penguin

  • Heidi Gardner as Harley Quinn and Miss Tuesday

  • Alan Tudyk as Alfred

  • Seth Meyers as Jack Ryder

  • Jason Sudeikis as Mayor Hamilton Hill

  • Paul Scheer as Mr. Charleyhorse

  • Fred Armisen as King Scimitar

  • Brooke Shields as Reporter Vicki Vale

  • Tim Meadows as Dr. Arkham

  • Ray Wise as Various Announcers

See, what did I say. this cast is so good! I was surprised with all the names that I knew and how great they did in this audio adventure. Some performances that really stuck out to me were definitely Jeffery Wright, Bobby Moynihan, John Leguizamo and Brent Spiner. Each episodes is about 35-50 minutes long which honestly is a perfect length for this style of adventure. I don't want to spoil anything for you because I highly suggest you go listen to it, but each episode is like a chapter with many things happening within the chapter. I love the narrating of what's going on and as someone who loves comics and reads them a lot, this was perfect. I could visually see what was going on when Batman talks to Harvey Dent or when Robin is talking to Alfred and I really enjoyed that. Now, is this for everyone? No, because I can easily see where someone can get confused and not understand what was happening or who was in the scene and that's just one issue with this audio adventure. I did have to stop at some points to rewind and listen really carefully to who was in the scene or where the story was at, but I chalk that one up to my bad hearing. One last complaint was that I had to listen to the episodes on my HBO Max app and not Spotify or Apple Podcasts but I understand why they went that route.

Overall, this audio adventure was wonderful and I really hope they continue with a second season because they did leave the door open for one! I loved the cast and how they portrayed these great characters. "Batman: The Audio Adventures" gets a 4.5/5!
